About the Item

Original "The United Nations Fight For Freedom" vintage World War II poster. Printed in 1942. Artist: Steve Broder. This is the large format version of the poster. Archival linen backed in very good condition with no paper loss. Bright and vibrant lithographic colors. World War II posters issued by the U. S. Government printing office were all folded and mailed out across the United States. These original fold marks, as issued, have been restored and this poster is in very fine condition, ready to frame. Note, in 1942 the official "United Nations" did not exist. That will happen shortly after the end of the war. Issued in 1942, just as the US was getting fully involved in the war, this poster by Broder represents an early use of the phrase that was to become the official name of the current organization. Good condition; linen backed. Publisher: [Washington, D.C.] : U. S. Government Printing Office Year: 1942 This poster was issued in 1942, just as the US was getting fully involved in the war. This is one of the earliest usages of the term “United Nations.” This poster shows the Statue of Liberty to the left and the flags of 30 countries to the right.
