About the Item
"O. Phalenopsis 2" is a contemporary hand-painted intaglio print by Wisconsin artist Mark Brueggeman. Printed with black ink onto white paper, the print depicts a "Moth Orchid" which has been hand-painted with watercolor. The image in black has the look of a charcoal drawing and ink wash and has been painted with peach flowers with purple details, green foliage, and translucent lavender and ochre background. This print is an "Artist's Proof (AP)" and is a one-of-a-kind, original artwork. This print is part of a series of four prints (see last two photos). Mark Brueggeman works in printmaking, painting, drawing, and stained glass, and is well known for his floral artwork. Mark earned his undergraduate degree in drawing and painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and his graduate degree at Southern Illinois University. Mark was an art professor for over 25 years and has operated Atelier Vermeil Studio 2 since 1985.
