Joy Buddies

2020

About the Item

Artist Commentary: The Joy Buddies were created from a simple question I asked myself - if joy were tangible, what would it look like? The Joy Buddies message is that we are better, together. I created them to symbolize the joy and hope I feel like I come together in unity with the people I love. Over the years, they have exhibited across the country in various sculptural and digital art forms but always keeping true to their same human-like shape and fire-painted designs. Keywords: Abstract, modern, contemporary, metal art, sculpture, sculptural Artist Biography: Mini Mukherjee is an award-winning Indian American metalwork artist, sculptor, and visual designer based in Los Angeles. Her practice is direct reflection of what she values most in life: Joy, resiliency and togetherness. Art is both her canvas and tool for personal transformation and reflection. Mini’s unique metalwork sculptures and fire paintings have shown and sold throughout California as well as in private collections across the country. More recently, Mini was awarded the 2017 Emerging Artist of the Year by the Arts Council of White Lake Gallery. Mini was also selected to exhibit her first interactive metalwork sculpture "Joy Buddies" in ArtPrize 9, the world's largest art competition by attendance and was cited as a Top 10 must-see by iHeartRadio. Prior to her journey into the Arts, Mini held leadership positions in finance, enterprise sales and digital marketing for Fortune 500 companies and startups.
