Stefano Cagol, The Bouvet Island, 2024, hand-bent and bolted mirror aluminum 43 x 65 x 45 cm State of Preservation: excellent. Mostre: - Swerving the Apocalyptic Angle into Hope, curated by S. Cagol, with Stefano Cagol, Mary Mattingly, PSJM at Glenda Cinquegrana Art Consulting, Milan, February 14 through March 30, 2024. Provenance: artist. Stefano Cagol (Trento, 1969) is an Italian contemporary artist. He studied at the Brera Academy in Milan and at Ryerson University in Toronto on a postdoctoral fellowship from the Government of Canada. He has given lectures and conferences, among others, at Bauhaus University in Weimar; Accademia di Brera in Milan; and Goldsmiths University in London. Since 2022, he has started the We Are the Flood platform on the climate crisis at the MUSE Museum of Science in Trento, Italy, and in 2023 he founded the MUSE Anthropocene collection. Since 2023, he has been artistic director of Belasi Castle, a hub of ecological practice and thought. Participated in 59th, 55th, 54th Venice Biennale; Manifesta 11; 14th Curitiba Biennale; 3rd and 2nd OFF Cairo Biennale; 1st Xinjiang Biennale and 1st Singapore Biennale. Solo exhibitions include one at MAC Museum in Lissone (2023); CCA Center for Contemporary Art in Tel Aviv (2021); MA*GA Museum in Gallarate (2019); Galleria Civica in Trento (2016); ZKM Karlsruhe (2012); and Mart - Museo d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto (2000). A two-time winner of the Italian Council (2023, 2019) from the Italian Ministry of Culture, he works in the fields of Conceptual Art, Environmental Art, Eco-Art and Land Art, reflecting for years on boundaries, influences, energy and the environment.
