If at first Penn’s sculptures appear rooted in the organic world, on second glance one may trace in them the history of human aesthetics. In the lace-like arrangements of plant forms one recognizes the botanical embellishments of the Victorians, and in their simple and compelling composition Penn’s works recall the forms of Classical architecture. Employing equal parts nature and ornament, Penn pulls her artistic vocabulary from both worlds. Her historical influences are not accidental; Penn has traveled widely for the purpose of studying the decorative habits of Western civilization, and her work references a long account of organic ornamentation. “I’m very interested in not only the plants, but the intersection of where nature and culture make their dividing line and have boundaries that are crossed over time,” says Penn. “In many ways, they are at odds with each other but also in synthesis.” Penn holds a BFA for the University of Texas at El Paso, a MA from New Mexico State University and MFA from SUNY New Paltz. She is professor at the School of Art and Design at Texas State University. Her work is collected around the country and she has received numerous fellowships including a Rockefeller Foundation residency in Bellagio, Italy; a Fulbright Fellowship in Barcelona, Spain; and nine Texas State University Faculty Research Grants for research in Mexico, Italy, Spain, and New York.

  • "Pantaloncini: Work No. 012 (Emma)" sculpture with pins
    By Angela Ellsworth
    Located in Phoenix, AZ
Angela Ellsworth Pantaloncini: Work No. 012 (Emma), 2017 47,160 pearl corsage pins, colored dress pins, fabric, steel 25”h x 18"w x 12”d Angela Ellsworth is an interdisciplinary artist who works in sculpture, drawing, installation, and performance. Her solo and collaborative work draws on a broad range of topics: illness (particularly her personal battle with cancer in her twenties), physical fitness, endurance, religious traditions (influenced by her family’s history and especially her great, great, grandfather, Lorenzo Snow, who was the fifth prophet and president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), and social issues (such as queerness and non-heteronormative relationships in contemporary society as well as the tradition of polygamy with the early history of Mormonism.) Addressing the secret languages pulsing beneath officially-sanctioned accounts of history and religion, Ellsworth’s mysterious, entrancing objects and performances draw lines of communication between her Mormon ancestry and the work of 19th and 20th century female mystics, delving into an unspoken realm of gestural language, psychic connection, and sensuous geometry. In 2014, she founded the Museum of Walking, which is committed to conversations about land, action and site within the context of art. Ellsworth holds a MFA in painting and performance from Rutgers University and a BA in photography and painting from Hampshire College. Her work has been shown internationally including at The Getty Center (CA), Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney, Australia), Zacheta National Gallery of Art (Warsaw, Poland), National Review of Live Art...

  • "Engaging (18-inch)" bronze pedestal sculpture
    Located in Glen Ellen, CA
Cast bronze sculpture with classic green patina on black marble base. Edition of 3 at this size. Other sizes and patina finishes are also available by commission, please inquire for more details. Pisapia's "Expedition Series," inspired by sea voyages, is about meeting life’s challenges with courage and purpose. It connects to the idea expressed by J.W. Goethe: “Character is formed in the stormy billows of the world.” Taking up life’s tasks can require one to go against the wind. The feeling of determination to achieve and continue steering through obstacles is poured into the pure forms; a dynamic balancing of the straight and curve on different axes. "With a rounded starting point," Pisapia explains, "I add on a variety of disparate angles, diverse curves, and twisting planes. I carve and smooth the surfaces, bringing out particular tensions and transitions." Flavius Valone Pisapia is an Italian-Romanian artist born in Bucharest in 1981. He completed his higher education in the UK, with an MA in Transpersonal Arts & Therapy, 2014; a Diploma in Transformative Arts, 2011; and a BA (Hons) in Film and Video, 2005. Pisapia studied sculpture throughout his higher education and appreciated several sculptor mentors in the UK. Since 2016, he has resided in India, where he is currently an artist in residence at Studio Sukriti in Jaipur. He has had several solo exhibitions in India and his artwork is found in private collections worldwide. "It's important for me to experience the world at a deeper level by penetrating the veil of the senses. Through an immersive process the essence, beauty and the pure form of an idea are gradually revealed to me. The emerging awareness flows into my artwork imbuing it with a higher reality. To achieve this awareness in my creative process, I go through three stages: imagination, inspiration and intuition." - Flavius Pisapia
