    By Rainer Lagemann
    Located in Miami, FL
Born in Düsseldorf in 1959, Rainer Lagemann concentrates on the human body in a modern interpretation of classical sculpture. Lagemann is fascinated by the long-held tradition of artistic expression and struggle depicted through the natural form explored in all shapes, materials, and mediums since the beginning of art history. His sculptures capture the human body in motion--a freeze-frame of classic, timeless gestures and emotions, both ethereal and concrete. The forms he creates possess the grace of a Nureyev or Baryshnikov in mid-flight. Lagemann uses hollow metal squares to sculpt the human figure, creating works that elicit both the strength and delicacy of the body. Each square represents the trials and tribulations of life, the four corners symbolizing the intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions of human beings that form the framework of the spirit and the image of the body. The hollow squares strip away distractions, leaving a powerful vision and exploration of the human body, adding an element of tangible levity and formless abstraction. With all of Rainer's sculptures, there is a secondary layer of beauty and mystery - the exquisite shadows of form, body, and spirit cast themselves upon the walls creating a second sculpture of light...

  • Big Love
    By Rainer Lagemann
    Located in Miami, FL
Powder-coated stainless steel. Unique. Born in Düsseldorf, Germany on September 14th, 1959, Rainer Lagemann studied in Abitur Albert Einstein Gymnasium from 1965 - 1978. Following this, he enrolled in the University of FH Detmold (1983 - 1987) where he studied Interior architecture and got a sense of himself - learned a lot about design, furniture, architecture and art. It was only in 2005 when Lagemann started welding and found his true passion and special talent for it. Concentrating on the human body in a modern interpretation of the classic art of sculpture, Rainer is fascinated by the human body and the classic theme of artistic expression and struggle that has been depicted in all shapes, materials and mediums since the existence of mankind. Rainer's sculptures capture the human body in motion--a freeze frame of classic, timeless gestures and emotions that are both ethereal and concrete. The forms he creates are how one would imagine the grace of a Nureyev or Baryshnikov in mid-flight. Rainer uses hollow metal squares to sculpt the human form, creating works that elicit both the strength and delicacy of the body. Each square represents the trials and tribulations of life, the four corners symbolizing the intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual dimension of human beings that form the framework of the spirit and the image of the body. The hollow squares strip away distractions, leaving a powerful vision and exploration of the human body, adding an element of tangible levity and intangible abstraction. With all of Rainer's sculptures there is a secondary layer of beauty, abstraction and mystery. When darkness falls and the lights come on, the exquisite shadows of form, squares, body and spirit cast themselves upon the walls creating a second sculpture of light...

He received his degree from the University of Utah, then served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Having spent numerous years as a guide and ski instructor, Denny has learned to love the rivers and mountains of the western states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. After moving to Loveland, a hub of successful working sculptors, he wasted no time in getting monumental sculpture experience through working with renowned sculptors including Fritz White and Kent Ullberg N.A. Since 1987, Denny has created and placed dozens of monumental compositions; spanning the full spectrum of the figurative genre. As a member of the Potawatomi Citizen Nation, it is only natural for his artwork to follow the Native American culture. His art has not been limited to Native American and southwestern subjects, however, as he frequently explores abstract forms placing emphasis on the qualities of the metal and stone used. As a Charter member of the National Sculptors' Guild and being close to other sculptors and the Loveland area foundries has helped him to master all the foundry processes involved in producing a desirable and lasting monumental bronze sculpture. Over 50 major public placements include the Smithsonian Institution, DC.; the Gilcrease Museum, OK; Cerritos, CA; Little Rock, AR; the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Sioux collection, MN, and the Barona Band of Mission Indians...
