About the Item

Collaboration with Michael G. Lafosse Painted cast stainless steel, painted cast bronze, Edition of 50 Kevin Box is an internationally-renowned sculptor working in cast bronze, steel, and other metals. His work pushes the boundaries of the casting process and celebrates of the delicacy of paper and the permanence of metal. Box's sculpture is whimsical and elegant, as he invites you to touch and experience the meaning of the work for yourself in a tactile way. As a child, Kevin Box developed a passion for creativity and the graphic arts during summers at his uncle’s design firm. Later, as a college student of graphic arts in New York City working primarily in paper, during a trip to Greece and in the presence of the sculptural longevity of classical antiquity, he began to desire to contribute to the lasting history of art. In a quest to learn the most permanent of fine arts, Box studied at foundries in Texas for three years, a decision which afforded him the freedom of experimentation. Ignited with inspiration, and empowered by a full service studio to work in and a treasure trove of paper found in the warehouse of an old print shop the foundry was renting, he started working with paper again. Box says of his technique: “It took two years of tireless experimentation for me to develop the process of casting paper into bronze, another seven years to perfect, and it continues to evolve today.” Today, Kevin Box’s monumental sculptures can be found around the United States including the city of Paramount, CA, the Austin City Symphony, TX, city of Little Rock, AR, the Four Seasons Hotel, Washington D.C., the African American Performing Arts Center in Albuquerque, NM, and around the world including Perth, Australia, the International Hotel, Morocco, and Oita, Japan.

The sculptures of Damon Hyldreth appear both static and fluid, rigid and flexible, strong and smooth, effectively blurring the line between nature and structure. By crafting organic forms from an obviously man-made metal, Hyldreth creates a unique symbiosis between nature and structure, unifying the sculpture and the surroundings through the free-flowing energy and architecture of his artworks. Keeping in mind the intimate connection between artists and their tools, Hyldreth studies the potential energies of his metals and coaxes out exquisite forms and natural power. Using mainly stainless steel, as well as the occasional bronze and Cor-ten steel, Hyldreth allows his materials to dictate their final shape and become an ultimate collaboration between man and matter. The evocative forms subliminally draw the audience in, giving every viewer a deeply personal experience. In 2004 Damon received his BFA in Sculpture from San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, CA. Public and private installations of Hyldreth’s work include the town of Palm Desert, CA, the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, The W Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, Trump Hollywood, Hollywood, FL Neiman Marcus, Houston, TX, Soffitel Hotel, Los Angeles, CA and the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza...

Dance Within, Wear Only Sky by Denny Haskew Set of 3, (two with figures, one ring alone) Bronze with Stainless Steel, suspended from ceiling using cable system. Figures dancing in rings, gold and silver representing yin/yang, masculine/feminine, sun/moon female: 20x18x6" ed/21 male: 22x19x8" ed/21 "Just as the ancients danced to call upon the spirits in nature, we too can dance to find the spirits within ourselves that have long been buried and forgotten." - Anna Halprin ABOUT THE ARTIST: Denny Haskew currently resides in Loveland, Colorado where he is actively engaged in the art industry as a sculptor. He received his degree from the University of Utah, then served two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Having spent numerous years as a guide and ski instructor, Denny has learned to love the rivers and mountains of the western states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah. After moving to Loveland, a hub of successful working sculptors, he wasted no time in getting monumental sculpture experience through working with renowned sculptors including Fritz White and Kent Ullberg N.A. Since 1987, Denny has created and placed dozens of monumental compositions; spanning the full spectrum of the figurative genre. As a member of the Potawatomi Citizen Nation, it is only natural for his artwork to follow the Native American culture. His art has not been limited to Native American and southwestern subjects, however, as he frequently explores abstract forms placing emphasis on the qualities of the metal and stone used. As a Charter member of the National Sculptors' Guild and being close to other sculptors and the Loveland area foundries has helped him to master all the foundry processes involved in producing a desirable and lasting monumental bronze sculpture. Over 50 major public placements include the Smithsonian Institution, DC.; the Gilcrease Museum, OK; Cerritos, CA; Little Rock, AR; the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Sioux collection, MN, and the Barona Band of Mission Indians...
