Artist statement:
“Mother”' is a monument to motherhood, a sculpture defining the inner feelings of a woman as she rests in a quiet pose, reminiscent of the peace and stillness of waiting. The globe gives us personification and celebration of the beauty of creation by its continuous transformation enclosed in an abstract form. New life; a small dragon which rests on the woman's thighs, a feature of the legends of several cultures the world over. Although the dragons of the East and the West have quite similar physical characteristics, the Asian cultures regard them as benevolent beings. The ancient Chinese saw the dragon as the most potent of all symbols of energy and good fortune. They believed it to be the harbinger of incredible luck, prosperity, abundance, consistent with success and high achievement.
