This is a show stopping vintage 1980's Lillie Rubin short set that includes a pair of elastic waist shorts and a sweatshirt style zip front jacket. The base color of both pieces is black and the jacket has sequin polka dots in bold shades of yellow, green, red, and purple. The set is fully lined in black silk. The zip front sweatshirt style jacket has long raglan oversized sleeves, pockets, a mandarin style short collar and a metal zipper down the center front seam for closure. The cuffs and collar are in a rayon lined stretch fabric. The rayon lined shorts have pockets, front pleats and a back elastic waistband. There is a wide hook and eye closure in the center front opening with a metal zipper. Wear this outfit as a fun evening dress alternative with the right shoes or boots! This is a documented, rare vintage 1940's Adele Simpson skirt and jacket is in a luxurious black wool. The flattering double breasted jacket has an exaggerated notched collar, shoulder pads for structure, and a cinched waist. The 8 front 7/8'' buttons are black wool capped with a glossy black ring surrounding the cap. The jacket has shoulder pads for structure and the sleeve cuffs fold over forming triangles that point towards the back of the jacket, creating a two extruding mirrored points on each sleeve. We have documented the jacket from Fall/Winter 1947. We aren't sure if the unlabeled skirt is original to the suit but are including it because it came from the same estate and was worn with the jacket by the original owner.. The straight skirt is in a black wool crepe and it is defined with 2 pleats in front and 2 pleats in back. There is a zipper in the side seam with overlapping fabric and a hook and eye closure at the waist line. The skirt has a 9'' knife kick pleat centered at the bottom of the back of the skirt. We acquired this many years ago from our all time favorite estate of vintage designer clothing...
