George Cecil Carter was born in Oklahoma in 1908 and became a noted Colorado abstract expressionist, despite having no formal training. He worked as a coal miner, gold miner, and machinist at Schneebeck’s Industries in Colorado Springs for twenty years During that time, Carter worked on his art and was was mentored by Broadmoor Academy painter, Charles Bunnell.
Carter worked out of Colorado Springs and Canon City, Colorado. He exhibited nationally, including Texas and Illinois. Among his contemporaries are Al Wynne, Mary Chenoweth...
