A Fashion Bibi hat in straw and ribbons - France Circa 1860
About the Item
Circa 1860
France
Small straw hooded fashion bibi covered with a ruché of ribbons and falbalas dating from the French Second Empire. The bottom is made of a lace of cords with cream pleated ribbons (some gaps in the ribbons). Large cream ribbon with blooming flower on the top. Beige cheesecloth bouillonné with silk soutaches framing the face. Large parma satin ribbon with rosette for tying under the neck (this ribbon appears to be later). Some crushing of the ruché, but the piece is complete with its trimmings. Good structural condition.
