Peter Max Pop Art Italian Silk Necktie, 1960's

About the Item

Peter Max made a name for himself in the 1960's by incorporating cultural influences of the psychedelic era into his pop art including wearable art such as this mod Italian silk necktie. The colorful pattern includes shades of maroon red, blue, yellow and pale orange on an off-white background. Originally retailed at Davison's which was a well appointed department store and an Atlanta shopping institution from the late 1800's until the 1980's when it was renamed Macy's. CONDITION The tie has been professionally cleaned though it shows signs of age and wear in the form of a couple of discolorations and what appear to be ink spots. Please see photographs 8, 9 and 10. Probably best for collectors or those that do not mind a little 'patina' to their vintage. MEASUREMENTS The necktie measures 57.5" from end to end x 4.75" wide at one end tapering to 1" in the center and widening to 1.75" on the back end.
