Green Sari Silk and Gold Thread Hooded Kaftan w Provenance, Tunisia - M, 1970s

About the Item

Hand-made in Tunisia from an Indian silk sari, this kaftan was originally owned by the wife of a State Department ensign in the Nixon administration. Still not impressed? She wore it to tea with Prince Karim Aga Khan IV. That should do it. Tunisian-made hooded kaftan with ¾ bell sleeves; fully front buttoning with 99 gold hand-knotted looped buttons.
