Sable Jacket with Shawl Collar
About the Item
A prime example of understated luxury, this vintage sable jacket in a shade of medium brown is hip length and features a shawl collar and wrist-length sleeves. The jacket is constructed of lustrous, vertical skins in excellent condition, with hidden side pockets in between skins. The straight, simple cut makes it a versatile component of your wardrobe, enabling it to go easily from casual daytime wear to evening events. On the interior, you will find a coordinating brown satin lining, with a black velvet ribbon around the perimeter, also in excellent condition.
Joseph the Furrier was an internationally respected furrier, whose last owner visited the Paris couture salons and branched out into fashion, located in Scanton-Wilkes-Barre, PA. The firm was in business almost 100 years and passed down through several generations of the Joseph family until it closed in the early 1990s. It was known for its high-end, designer, and quality furs. It is highly probably (but not confirmed) that this sable is of Russian origin, the highest quality sable, as the skins are silver tipped, a hallmark of that origin. A steal of a deal at this price!
