Autumn Rust Mohair Fiber Art Sailor Pullover and Midi Skirt Ensemble-M-L, 1970s

About the Item

A member of the Royal Society of Arts, fiber artist Kay Cosserat was one of the most prominent and decorated knitwear designers of the 20th century. Her untimely death left few pieces in circulation, and most are currently housed in the Victoria & Albert Museum's permanent collection. This ensemble is a beautiful example of her muted, comfortable aesthetic and represents sweater dressing at its artistic best. Matching vintage cocoon pullover top and skirt of open weave knit mohair. Oversized top features dropped bishop sleeves, gathered elastic waistband and 7” sailor collar; pullover construction with no closures of any kind. Matching skirt with gathered elastic waist and slightly flared hemline; pull-on construction with no closures of any kind.
