1930s Art Deco Velvet Clutch
About the Item
Elegant 1930s black velvet clutch featuring an Art Deco clasp of rectangular form, complementing the softly rounded upper edge of the bag. The clasp is composed of marcasite in an open work, geometric design and is embellished with a green cabochon (probably chrysophrase, which was commonly used in jewels during the period) in the upper right hand corner anchoring a ray of marcasites. A self handle on the back side provides a hand hold option. Inside, which is lined in black, you will find a central purse compartment with a kiss lock that separates the interior; one side has an open pocket. A beautiful, historical piece in very good condition.
