Antique Japanese Arita Porcelain Handleless Cup & Saucer with Cherry Blossoms
About the Item
A fine antique handleless cup and saucer.
In Japanese Arita porcelain.
With blue underglaze and cold-painted iron red decoration. Embellished throughout with green & yellow enamel and gilding.
Both cup and saucer having depictions of cherry tree branches and blossoms, peonies, and irises. The central cartouches have floral sprays, and the rims have traditional blue and red foliate borders.
Bearing old Peter Mack Brown Washington D.C. labels to the bases.

Overall Condition:
They are in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition with no cracks or repairs.
Condition Details:
There is a tiny flake and an open glaze bubble to the rim of the saucer, some noticeable glaze scratches (particularly in the bowl of the saucer), and some rubbing to the gilding and enamel decoration. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
