Large Rare Antique Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Plate
About the Item
A large rare antique, Meiji era, Japanese enamel over copper plate or charger. The interior of the plate is adorned with a polychrome enamel image of blossoming flowers surrounded by floral and geometrical reticulated ornaments on the blue ground on the borders made in the Cloisonne technique. the border is decorated with a scaly pattern made in the same technique. The backside features polychrome enamel floral, foliage and reticulated motifs on the turquoise ground made in the same technique. Unmarked. Circa: late 18th century.
