18th Century Tibetan Thangka Painting

About the Item

A rare striking 18th century Tibetan Thangka depicting the Green Tara seated on a lotus throne ready to step down to offer comfort and protection for all suffering beings. Her right hand is extended in the Giving gesture and her left hand in the Refuge-Granting gesture. She is surrounded by twenty-two other Taras, all offering prosperity, health, success, and peace. The ground of the textile is made from hand-woven linen panels stitched together and covered with polychrome pigments. The age of this piece has been confirmed by the leading Asian Arts expert in the U.S. and we'll be happy to provide documentation upon purchase. The Thangka has been professionally mounted to a linen stretched panel.
