18th Century Georgian Mantel with Brocatella Inlays and Fine Carving 'GEO-ZE54'

About the Item

A late 18th century English marble mantel of good quality and in good condition incorporating unrelated 18th century elements of similar quality and even date. In Italian Statuary with inlays of Spanish Brocatella marble to the pilasters, ingrounds and shelf, the mantel has tapering jambs inlaid fluted jambs terminating in finely carved ram’s masks beneath corner blocks carved with elliptical rosettes. The frieze with a very finely carved centre tablet added later and depicting three classical figures and flanked by stop fluted panels and beneath a shelf with a tier of inlaid dentil work. Opening dimensions: 42" W x 36" H.
