Dutch Art Deco Modernist Haagse School pedestal, 1920s

Dutch Haagse School 1920s plinth, pedestal or candle stand attributed to designer P.E.L. Izeren for ''De Genneper Molen''.
This piece was most probably designed as an altar candle holder for a church. A rare modernist design, futurist even.
The stand is an art object in itself, and would also be very suitable as a flower/plant table or as an actual candle stand (its original purpose)
The pedestal is in good condition, sturdy and straight, with only small signs of wear. It measures 90 cm (35,4 inches) in height. The top is 27x 27 cm (10,6 inches). The base is wider.
The style is called ''Haagse School'' (The Hague School), which stands for the luxurious and modern design style that manifested itself in 1920s The Hague, Netherlands.
The Hague School is a variant of Art Deco. The style is recognizable by the straight and cubist shapes of the furniture that reflect the architecture of the time. The Hague School is often seen as a mix of Berlage's rationalism, the traditional Arts and Crafts Movement, the interiors of Frank Lloyd Wright, Rietveld and the avant-garde movement De Stijl.
