1900s French Cast Iron Planter
About the Item
A cast iron planter from France, made in the 1900s. The campana shape resembled an upturned bell with a fluted cupola and broad lip, reminiscent of an opening blossom. Weathered over the years, the cast iron has acquired a striking layered patina: an oxidized palette of ochre hues are speckled with the original paint layer. Stately and ornate, the aesthetic of this cast iron planter evokes the beauty and melancholy provoked by the passage of time.
