Ø cm 23 h cm 6 Paolo de Poli was a renowned Italian enameller and painter who lived from 1 August 1905 to 21 September 1996. His work is particularly celebrated for its mastery of vitreous enamelling on metal. De Poli began his artistic career studying drawing and embossing on metal at the Pietro Selvatico art high school in Padua. He then refined his oil painting at the Trentino painters' studio in Verona. Initially he established himself as a portrait and landscape painter, also participating in the XV Venice Biennale with his oil still life in 1926. During his travels and visits to museums and archaeological sites in the 1930s, De Poli became fascinated by the beauty and techniques of traditional vitreous enamelling. This sparked a lifelong dedication to this meticulous art form, starting in 1933, leading him to be considered a master of vitreous enamelling over the years. He meticulously adhered to traditional techniques, ensuring the longevity and brilliance of his work. His dedication to this method earned him the praise of the famous architect and designer Gio Ponti, who recognized De Poli's significant contribution to the art of enamelling in Italy. His enameled creations spanned a wide range of subjects, including bowls, vases, trays, furniture panels and even sculptures. He did not shy away from creating everyday objects, often imbuing them with a sense of artistry and beauty. Paolo de Poli's exceptional skills and dedication to vitreous enamelling have left a lasting impression on the Italian art scene. His work continues to be admired and collected by art enthusiasts around the world.
