About the designer:
Arne Tidemand Ruud was a prominent figure in the world of furniture design and interior architecture, he gained international recognition for his iconic Holmenkollen chair (1959), which garnered immense popularity both in Norway and abroad.
Tidemand Ruud’s passion for furniture craftsmanship blossomed from his upbringing in a furniture-family. His father, Ole N. Ruud, managed furniture factories in Oslo, Odense, and Gjøvik, supplying exceptional furniture and interiors, including those for the Amerika line. Combining practical experience as an apprentice carpenter alongside his studies at the Norwegian School of Arts and Crafts, Tidemand Ruud obtained his journeyman’s certificate in 1935, setting the stage for his illustrious career in design.
