Antique Sterling Silver Repousse Heart Trinket Jewelry Box William Hutton London
About the Item
A very elegant antique sterling silver heart shaped trinket/jewelry box, William Hutton & Sons, London, 1888.
The hinged dome topped lid is finely decorated with repousse work flowers and leaves, the edge of the lid having a crimped 'pie crust' decoration, the side of the lid with the maker's hallmarks, date letter and lion passant mark for sterling silver. The base of the box having incised trailing vine decoration with an arcaded gallery below and a corresponding crimped edge to the base. The base also has a full set of hallmarks with "EH" for Edward Hutton (William Hutton & Sons) date letter for 1888 and the panther's head mark for London.
Condition is excellent, total silver weight is 121 grams.
