An exceptional, fine and impressive set of four of antique George V English sterling silver piano candlesticks; an addition to our antique silverware collection. These exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V sterling silver piano candlesticks have a cylindrical form onto a square spreading base. The Corinthian capital of each retains the original hallmarked detachable push fit sconce, ornamented with an embossed bead decorated border to the rim. The capitals are supported by a classic column, encircled with vertical fluted decoration. The lower portion of each column features a plain rounded knop to a spreading square base. The surface of the bases are each ornamented with embossed scrolling leaf and stylised bud swag designs. The rims are encompassed with bead decoration above further fluted designs, reflecting that of the column. The waisted column of each candlestick is embellished with chased leaf decoration to a large compressed circular knop, in addition to leaf motifs enveloping the lower portion. This fine antique Victorian sterling silver Chamberstick (chamber candlestick) has a plain circular form in the George I style. The well is plain and unembellished, encompassed with a plain elevated border. The plain cylindrical capital retains the original detachable hallmarked sconce ornamented with a plain applied moulded border. This antique chamberstick is fitted with a stylized Trefid pattern handle, embellished with two contemporary bright cut engraved crests of a squirrel sejant eating a nut to the right of an elephant and castle.
