George III bracket clock by Christopher Bullock, London Finely figured mahogany bell top case with four ‘pineapple’ finials surmounted by a hinged carrying handle standing on a stepped, raised plinth and resting on four outswept brass bracket feet. Cast upper quadrant, red silk lined frets to the front door with arched glazed apertures to the sides to view the movement. Glazed rear door. Fine eight day double Fusee movement with original verge escapement regulated by a short bob pendulum striking the hours on a top mounted silvered bell and repeating the hours upon demand. Profusely engraved backplate signed ‘C.B’ to a central cartouche. The holding brackets and apron similarly engraved. Eight inch silvered, engraved dial featuring flowers and garlands with original finely cut ‘blued’ steel hands, signed Chris’r Bullock, London with strike/ silent feature to the arch and subsidiary dial for the calendar just above the VI. C.1760 Brian Loomes informative book ‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ lists Christopher Bullock as working in London from c.1760 to 1815.
