Pair of American 1930s Lead Greyhound Dogs Sculptures Sitting on Cushions

About the Item

A pair of midcentury American lead dogs, obediently sitting on cushions. This adorable pair of dogs, circa 1930, was born in the United States and features two greyhound dogs seated on cushions and smelted in lead. In the 1930s during the Art Deco period, animal sculpture was a great success, especially thanks to the geometric and animal representations of French sculptor François Pompon. Beyond a hyper-realistic representation of different species, modern sculptors, inspired by Pompon's work, sought the very essence of the animal in addition to showing their loving and decorative side. This pair of lead dogs is very characteristic of this research. Set on either side of a fireplace or an entrance door, these lead dogs would provide a wonderful greeting to your guests.
