Gio Ponti Woman Sculpture in Terracotta 'Attr.'

About the Item

Rare terracotta sculpture attributed to the great designer Gio Ponti in the 1950s, fine Italian manufacture. The sculpture is intended to be hung on the wall, as the back is flat. The sculpture is modelled entirely in terracotta. It depicts a woman in profile, with her neck turned towards the viewer. The woman has thick curly hair framing her face, with two roses modelled at both temples. Two soft ringlets descend on her neck. The woman's face is almost apathetic, she has no obvious expressions, as her face is relaxed and in its most relaxed state; her eyebrows are thin, gull-winged, higher than her eyes, which are well-hollowed almond-shaped. Finally, a small nose and a small but fairly fleshy mouth can be seen. Only one shoulder can be seen below, as the woman is in profile; on her chest instead of clothing we see many roses covering her nudity. This statue is truly rare for boundless lovers of art.
