Antique French Glass Carboy Bottle

About the Item

Also called a ‘demijohn’ or ‘carboy’ this glass vessel was made in France around 1900 for the purpose of fermenting, conditioning or transporting alcoholic beverages. A slender bottleneck blooms out into a broad globe shape; the absinthe-green tone of the glass enhances lucid lines and an ovoid shape for a simple and chic decoration for your interior. Made of a solid thick glass, their convex shape is ideal for the production and storage of all manner of liquid contents, from wine to oils and vinegars. A staple of every Mediterranean kitchen, these oversized glass bottles impart a nostalgic elegance.
