Jan Roest Verhuizingen Breskens Jar

About the Item

Vintage promotional advertising jar with lid is made of glazed ceramics and is decorated with two-tone blue drawing of a ship on a sea. It is marked in blue script on the inner side if the lid. The marks include company logo, company name, Jan Roest Verhuizingen Breskens, and company slogan, "Goede bediening is onze service", that translates from Dutch as "Good service (or good handling) is our service"; Verhuizingen translates as Removal, Migration, or Moving house to change one's home or residence. There is no manufacturer's mark on the bottom of the jar. The jar appears to be an extremely rare and historical relic of advertisement in transportation; we were unable to find other examples of it mentioned, with very limited promotional items for this company being offered for sale or otherwise described. The company was operating in Netherlands in 1970s. The jar is in great vintage condition with light signs of wear and a few small chips on the inner rim of the lid, unnoticeable with lid closed, and a small glaze damage on top of the lid. The jar measures 5" wide with 4.2" opening and 1.5" tall; the lid measures 4.56" in diameter and 0.8" tall including bottom rim; jar with the lid on measures 2.5" tall.

  • Crystalline Glaze Ceramic Ikebana Vase, Blue, American Studio Pottery, 2003
    Located in Clifton Springs, NY
The vintage studio pottery ceramic ikebana vase is decorated with crystalline glaze in striking, bright blue and yellow palette. The vase was hand thrown on a wheel; blue color crystals on muted yellow colored base were grown in a kiln during a very long, controlled firing. Each crystalline piece is unique due to the nature of the glaze. The vase was allowed to develop an abundance of distinct, graphic crystals, creating a free-flowing abstract pattern and adding rich texture to the minimally shaped piece. The opening is placed asymmetrically on the side of the vase and is outfitted with flower frog. The vase was made by Wizards of Clay...

Cofete brass vase by Jan Garncarek Dimensions: 60 x 18 x 18 cm Material: Brass Handcrafted by Jan Garncarek. Signed This unique vase was designed during the designer's travels around the Canary Islands. Its mystical and minimalist form was inspired by a trip to the Coffet Beach on the Fuerteventura Island. It is an extraordinary place that seamlessly blends the boundlessness of the ocean with high mountains, in the middle of which sits Wintter's dilapidated villa. There are many myths about this building and its former function is kept a secret. The remains of the former airport on the beach, the nearby cemetery and the obliterated roads greatly stimulate the imagination. The designer imagined what the sand could still conceal. He sketched this image on the basis of which he made the vase. Jan Garncarek is an important contemporary designer, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He gained extra qualifications at Politecnico di Milano. He has acquired professional experience in the design society. He took part in projects such as: design of visual information for the Museum of the history of Polish Jews...
