Large Blue and White Delft Jars Hand-Painted 18th Century Netherlands Circa 1780
About the Item
This large 18th-century pair of Dutch Delft jars is hand painted in traditional deep cobalt blue on a tin-glazed ground.
They are molded in the Delft octagonal shape with a fluted surface.
The fluting creates a beautiful effect as light reflects off the curved surfaces.
Made circa 1780, the jars are painted with eight alternating blue and white panels, each of which is decorated with flowers, leaves, and scrolling vines.
The shoulders are decorated in a traditional style, with lappets showing acanthus leaves and tulips.
Each jar is topped by a charming lion finial.

Shape: Octagonal with softly rounded edges
Condition: Excellent with small edge chips invisibly restored
Marks: Each jar has cobalt blue 18th century factory marks on the underside
