Rare Japanese antique pottery jar/13th century/Kamakura period/Excavated pottery
About the Item
We would like to introduce you to some fascinating pots excavated in Japan.
This is a pot fired in an ancient Japanese kiln called Tokoname ware.
Tokoname is a kiln located in Aichi prefecture, Japan.(Tokoname Kiln is marked with a red circle on the map.)
It is said to have originated around the 12th century.
Also, in Japan, there are 6 kilns with a long history that are still going on.
It is one of them.
This is a vase that was fired around the 13th century.
It is from an era called the "Kamakura period."
Many of the items from before this era were sharply made and had a beautiful overall balance.
This vase also has a beautiful silhouette as the diameter decreases from top to bottom.
Because it was an excavated item, broken pieces of pottery were glued together and restored.
There is a hole at the bottom that was filled in.
It is a baked pottery, and the straw ash in the kiln falls on it and melts to create a natural glaze.
There is also a mark drawn by a comb on the shoulder.
This is the identifying mark of this era.
I have attached a similar reference image, so please check it out.
This is a very attractive vase with a wabi-sabi feel.
Kamakura period vases are difficult to obtain even in Japan, so why not take this opportunity to display one in your living room?
Also, I want many people to know the goodness of antiques, so I set the price reasonably.

- Japanese Antique 13th Century Small Pottery Vase / Wabi Sabi Flower VaseLocated in Sammu-shi, ChibaSince ancient times, people have created necessary tools from familiar materials, passed them on, and nurtured a lifestyle culture in order to survive in the severe struggle against nature. Over a long period of time, the tools accumulate a certain flavor and reflect the way of life. The harsher the natural environment and the weaker the human being, the stronger the power of the tool. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly modifying and re-creating the things around us opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we collect beautiful, powerful, unique, and carefully selected Japanese antiques. This is a very old ceramic vase...Category
