Alfredo Barbini, Aquamarine Incalmo Vase Murano Glass 1980s, Signed and Labeled

About the Item

Fine vessel made in Murano by Alfredo Barbini. This vase is made in two colors, aquamarine and transparent. Colors are joined with the incalmo technique, one of the most difficult in blown glass. In particular Alfredo did not join the glass head to head but had a lip on it which retroflex inside creating an inside frame. The execution is perfect and the result is splendid. An elegant vase with a marine color to accent your home. Best next to a window to show the beauty of the color. Vase is signed and labeled. Alfredo Barbini is one of the reference maestro for the glass-making world. His story covers the whole past century. Working with Martinuzzi when young. Creating many milestones. The aquariums for Cenedese. With the freedom of owning his furnace he created stylized and pure forms.

  • Murano Glass Mezza Filgrana, Green Amethyst Clear with Gold Leaf, Cenedese Attr

Great color combination. The filigree/filigrana glass is a cane with a color inside. Usually clear on the outside with a core in colored or opaque glass. Most used are white or black filigrana. This is a self-made filigrana as there is a green coating over an Amethyst core, making the Amethyst almost a dark bronze color. The other cane is clear with amethyst. The twisting (mena in muranese, or ritorto) makes a lay with the back of the vase almost as it is a reticello (once called filigrana, so that explains the term mezza filigrana). The special color combination was then rolled over pure gold leaf, highlighted with the iridescence smoke and then covered with another layer of high temperature glass to make the gold vivid. The vase is quite large and carries a squared mouth, in a way of Carlo Scarpa mezza filigrana vases...

  • Seguso for Bisazza White Scavo Corroso Murano Glass Vase 1993 Signed
    By Bisazza Vetro, Livio Seguso
Located in Tavarnelle val di Pesa, Florence
Unique large scavo vase. Here Bisazza used a theme that was popular at the end of the 1980s, the native American art. In particular the Navaho pottery. Scavo is made using a scavo technique of adding minerals over the hot shaped glass and a corroso finish that is to add acid with sawdust, to stay in place. The combination is of a great antique texture. Vase Jug with two handles. This collection belongs to the Livio Seguso production made under Bisazza ownership for a small period of the early 1990s. Livio continued his artist career with the freedom and the free state of mind that came from not owning a company. Similar path of Luciano Vistosi. Bisazza, the famous luxury mosaic company, continued Seguso models for the first part of the 90s. Then closed the furnace and continued to focus with his mosaic collection. His masters, Elio Raffaelli...
