Hand Painted and Gilded Vase Att. to Minton
About the Item
This very pretty hand painted and gilded porcelain vase is attributed to Minton, from their "Gothic Pedestal Ornaments" range of the 1830's. It features a hand painted spray of a profusion of flowers, housed in a gilt frame on an ochre coloured ground, beneath an arcaded, gilded rim. Below the main decoration is a frieze of gilded S scrolls and the whole thing rests on a square base. Measures: It stands 161 mm (6 3/8ths inches) high and measures 91 mm (3.5 inches) in diameter across the top. It is unmarked but the base is the same as marked examples. There is some minor loss of gilding to the rim and some faint scratches to the ground.
