Japanese Antique Natural Glaze Large Jar 14th-16th Century/ "Tokoname"Tsubo
About the Item
Tokoname is an area in Aichi prefecture, Japan.(Tokoname Kiln is marked with a red circle on the map.)
It was a pottery producing area with a very old history (from around the 12th century) in Japan.
This is a jar that was burned during the Muromachi period (around the 14th to 16th centuries).
It is baked in a kiln for a long time, and the ash is poured down, and it melts into a beautiful glaze.
In addition, it takes about one month to fire once.
And this is a rather beautifully shaped vase.
The mouth is tapered, bulging from top to bottom, and widest in the middle.
It has good stability and balance.
In addition, this natural glaze hangs very beautifully.
It's artistic beauty.
It weighs 16.15kg and feels solid and stable.
Also, as a reference material, a similar item from the same era as this item was listed in the Japanese art book "Tokoname Ware Masterpiece Encyclopedia", so I am attaching a photo.
Also, please note that this pot has cracks starting from the bottom and extending in three directions.
However, since it is adhesively repaired, there is no need to worry about it breaking.
However, if you add water directly, it will seep out, so when decorating flowers, put water in another container and put it in the pot.
It's a very beautiful pot.
It is recommended.
