Born in Gaiarine, in the province of Treviso in 1940 Renzo Igne, sculptor and painter, as a teenager moved to Castellamonte (To) where he attended the local art school 'Felice Faccio' and where he completed his training as a student of Victor Cerrato in Turin. In the 1960s he returned to Castellamonte and opened his own furnace together with his wife Maria Morandini, devoting himself to teaching. A short time later he opens a shop in Turin, la Muffola, where he sells his products. In 1977 he graduated in architecture at the Milan Polytechnic. In the early eighties he worked in his studio in via Torino 60 in Castellamonte where he created one-of-a-kind pieces and small series of figurative sculpture, often with sacred subjects, and abstract material compositions, modeled by hand or by impression in a plaster mold and fired in an electric oven at low and high temperatures. In his artistic career he participates in numerous editions of the Faenza Prize and in the annual ceramics exhibitions of Castellamonte. Renzo Igne died in Turin in 2001
