Rosso Antico Marble and Gilt Bronze Potpourri Vases
About the Item
This exquisite pair of rosso antico marble and gilt bronze potpourri vases epitomize opulent artistry. A popular material for sculpture in ancient Greece, Rome and Italy, rosso antico is identifiable by its pink to reddish hue. These vases exhibit an exceptionally lustrous and even deep maroon color, which is further enhanced by rich, elegant gilt bronze. These vases are topped by elaborately decorated pierced lids which allow the scent of the perfume or potpourri within to disperse throughout the room, while the bronze handles appear as intricately coiled serpents. Similar attention is paid to the legs, reminiscent of bird legs culminating in sharp talons. These highly unique vases rest on square blue marble bases.
