Thai Ceramic Vase in Dark Brown Glaze
About the Item
A tall ceramic vase / urn with black glaze. Hand-crafted in Thailand, in the tradition of antique Thai earthenware. Circa 1970.
Sawankhalok, one of the main centers of ancient Thai ceramics, was known for its green celadon glaze. But it also produced monochromes in other colors, notably black and brown. Those techniques have been preserved through the centuries, as exemplified in this beautiful vase.
