About the Item
This hand-painted, antique Barbotine pie dish was created in England, circa 1970. Carved onto the lid, the lid with a curved wood branch form top handle, features three game animals in high relief resting over a bed of green oak leaves; it includes a rabbit, a mallard duck and a blue bird. The colorful majolica tureen is dressed with two branch forms handles on either side. Throughout the base, a basket weave motif intertwined with acorns and leaves demonstrates beautiful artistry. The ceramic piece is in excellent condition, with wonderful colors, and has marking on the bottom.
