Grès de Rambervillers, Art Nouveau Glazed Ceramic Vase, France, circa 1905

About the Item

Stamped: GRE`S DE RAMBERVILLERS Rambervillers is a city in Alsace-Lorraine, in eastern France, where in the late 19th century Alphonse Cyte're established a studio. This studio would produce masterwork ceramics by leading artists of the Nancy School, such as Louis Majorelle and Jacques Grüber. The studio was well known for its unusual shiny, reflective glazes after 1903, a technique known as gre's flamme´s, clearly visible in this piece, with its vibrant tones and shifting colors in response to light.
