Delft Polychrome plaque with a flower vase 1740-1760

About the Item

Polychrome plaque with a flower vase. Delft, 1740-1760 The lozenge-shaped plaque has a raised, accolade-shaped rim interrupted at the top by a large shell and at the bottom by a smaller shell. A shell is also modelled on both sides. The plaque is painted in polychrome. In the centre, a pot of flowers stands on a three-legged table in front of a fence and banded hedges. The depiction is bordered on both sides by floral ornaments. The raised rim is painted with stylised leaf ornaments. Below the upper shell are two hanging holes into which a pewter suspension has been made. A pewter shield engraved with a cross is attached to the lower shell. Dimensions: length 26 cm / 10.23 in., width 24 cm / 9.44 in.

    Wear consistent with age and use. In very good condition for its age of over 250 years. With some minor glaze damage to the rim, typical of Delftware. A few faint hairlines are visible on the back.
