Antique 1870's Pickman-Seville Porcelain Pink & Gold Shell Water Pitcher & Basin

About the Item

Exquisite antique Spanish Art Nouveau style "Charles Pickman, Seville" hand-painted pink and gold porcelain figural shell water pitcher and basin, Circa 1860's-1870's. Charles Pickman started "La Cartuja de Sevilla" in 1841. The tableware and decorative objects from the Sevillian factory quickly gained international recognition: in 1862 it received the gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in London and in Paris in 1878. It became an official supplier to the Royal Household in 1871.
