French Majolica Embossed Oval Serving Platter with Decoration of Fruit

About the Item

This generously sized oval serving platter originates from Portugal, and features an outer band of embossed faux basket-weave decoration in creamy white. Adorning both ends of this charming ceramic plate are collections of exuberant raised and hand-painted fruits: strawberries, plums, blackcurrants and redcurrants, all swathed in finely detailed foliage. In good antique condition, with some signs of use and a minor chip to the glazing on its base, it would make a most attractive serving dish for summer parties.
