Georgian Masons Ironstone Serving Dish in Fence Rock & Tree gilded Ptn, Ca 1818
About the Item
This is a very good hand painted Mason's ironstone Serving Dish or Platter in the Fence, Rock and Tree gilded pattern, from their earliest George IIIrd period, circa 1818.
The piece is well potted with a rectangular shape with moulded sides all on a low foot.
It is well hand painted in the recorded chinoiserie pattern called the: Fence, Rock and Tree pattern, showing a large golden flower by a well defined swastika latticed zig-zag fence, with a four section floral sprig border . The pattern is hand enamelled, over-glaze in bold colors of burnt orange, yellow, brown, blue, green, and pink over an under-glaze printed outline, with additional gold gilded detail.
This pattern is fully illustrated in Masons pattern book, page 91, published by The Masons Collectors' Club
The piece is fully marked to the base with a Mason's single line impressed mark stating: Masons Patent ironstone China, which dates this piece to circa 1818.
Overall a very decorative Serving Dish / Platter in a very decorative, free flowing, hand painted pattern.
