The Second World War dealt a severe blow to Limoges porcelain.
The porcelain makers decided to renew the production.
They therefore called on designers such as Raymond Loewy, Roger Tallon, Marc Held, Martin Szekely, Olivier Gagnère, Hervé Van Der Straeten, Andrée Putman, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Sylvain Dubuisson, Andrea Branzi and many others who created shapes that were as original as they were adapted to practical requirements.
For example, Raymond Loewy proposed a service for Air France in 1976.
From the beginning of production to the present day, porcelain shapes and designs have evolved along with artistic styles.
The vitality of the porcelain industry throughout its history has certainly been based on this stimulation between artists and manufacturers.
Limoges, the world capital of porcelain, has been producing exceptional porcelain of unequalled finesse and transparency since the 18th Century. Flagship of the "French luxury", the great names of Limousin porcelain have been able to combine know-how and innovation for three centuries.
