Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Gilt Set of 6 Spoons, Francis Higgins 1875

About the Item

We are delighted to offer this unique and magnificent solid silver gilt set of 6 spoons made by specialist spoon maker Francis Higgins in London, 1875. Made during the mid-Victorian era, the set presents a wonderful aesthetic flair of naturalistic decorations, adorned by a fully gilt surface (gold on solid silver). The spoons' terminals feature a wonderful cast leaf design which continues onto the stem with finely stippled decorations. The bowls feature a dainty and practical round design, ideal for stirring tea, coffee or sharing small treats in the most stylish manner. The quality and intricacy is particularly impressive, as expected with Higgins' fine flatware designs - a wonderful mix of artistic panache and practicality especially considering the gilt surface that protects the silver from tarnishing and allows for modern-day usage. Each spoon is marked with full English hallmarks. *All images with other items are for display purposes only, this listing is for the spoons only.
