Sterling Silver - Oval Tea Caddy
Made in 1909, ( 114 years old), by Barker Brothers, Constitution Hill. Birmingham.
A full set of hallmarks applied by the Chester Assay Office:-
Sword + Sheaves of Corn - Chester Assay Office mark.
Lion - Sterling silver guarantee
Upper case J - date letter for Chester 1909
HEB over FEB - Maker`s mark for Barker Brothers -
Herbert Edward Barker and Frank Ernest Barker
An excellent, oval shaped tea caddy, with fluted bottom half of the body and with fluted matching lid.
The hinged lid with flame finial, and showng some original gilding on the inside, particularly noticeable on the lid - see picture No. 7.
No damage - dents, scuffs or scratches.
Measures - Overall height:- 110 millimetres / 4.33 inches.
Width:- 97 mms. / 3.82 ins.
Depth:- 72 mms. / 2.83 ins.
Weight:- 122 grams / 3.92 troy ounces.
