Large Antique Silver Necessaire De Toilette William Comyns & Sons, London 1909

About the Item

Black covered wooden case with original, cream-colored velvet and silk interior. Contents: a small tray, two glass bottles, a powder box on feet, an oval glass box, four brushes, a hand mirror, a round silver box on feet, a rectangular box on feet with curling tongs, two comb holders. All glass parts with star cut, silver parts in a smooth finish, framed by plastic ribbon garlands. All silver parts monogrammed and hallmarked. 925 Silver Hallmarks: Master's sign 'W.C'- William Comyns & Sons Ltd., 2nd half of the 19th, early 20th century Leopard head - city mark of London Lion - 'Lion passant' England, Sterling Silver 925 'O' - date letter 1909-1910 Bibliography: Ian Pickford, Pocket Edition, Jackson's Hallmarks, Antique Collectors' Club, 2011, pages 37 + 80 Dimensions of case: width: 53.0 cm / 20.86 in depth: 52.0 cm / 20.47 in height: 18.0 cm / 7.08 in total silver weight: ca. 3.300 Grams / ca. 116.16 OZ / ca. 106.10 troy OZ Very well-maintained condition Signs of age and wear on the original cassette and on the brushes and combs, A small piece of the garland is missing on the side of the tray.
