About the Item
English Sterling Silver - BASTING or GRAVY SPOON - Hallmarked:-LONDON 1791
Considerably longer than a table spoon - would really show up on the dining table.
Twice as heavy as most OE Tablespoons.
A superb spoon that has had an absolute minimum of use - one could say UNUSED.
In the traditional and ever sought after - OLD ENGLISH PATTERN.
Certainly the must common of all of the early shapes, and ideal for making up a canteen or set.
The maker` mark is possibly RH, for Robert Hennell I, but this is overstriking another and is
a little distorted. There is no other, known maker, with the initials RH, working at the time.
Original owner`s monogram on the stem - H
